- Your number one priority is to maintain your college eligibility by keeping your grades up. Aim for as many ‘A’s and ‘B’s as you can, but be sure to never fall below a ‘C’ in any of your classes.
- Build your resumé: get involved in extracurricular activities: both on campus and in the community. A few WHS clubs that help you do both are: Project TRUE, MEChA, Key Club, S Club.
- Make sure to virtually explore California’s private universitiesv, about 1 a week. Whenever you travel, or can ask your parents for a weekend outing, I encourage you to visit them in person. Here’s the website for the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities (AICCU), where you can find tons of them.
- Set an excellent example for your classmates. Remember that you’re still part of our AVID family, and we expect you to behave respectfully in every situation, prioritize your studies, and be the student your teachers can depend on.
- Create study groups. Find the other strong students in your classes and arrange to study with them. Collaborate with the other AVID Shadows to have informal Tutorials to enrich your learning.
- Check this website for updates and announcements of field trips: https://dgodwin.weebly.com/avid-10-shadow.html
- Please communicate with me via Jupiter, if you have any questions or concerns. It’s still the best way to contact me.
- Have a great year!
